We get one story, you and I, and one story alone.
God has established the elements, the setting, the climax and the resolution.
It would be a crime not to venture out, wouldn't it?

Zoom Zoom

Here are some random minutes from October 21st, 2010 anno domini - the only one I've ever or ever will live.

9:02 am
Blink awake to a cloudy, cold, yet grace-saturated day (seems lazy, I know, well it is, but class didn't start till 10:40).

9:04 am
Make and consume my morning staple: yogurt and oats (it's kind of like a blue-collar parfait).

10:29 am
Pedal to school, weaving in and out of cars, mopeds, and sweet old Grannies laden with groceries (Nonna and Grandma - I love you!). Biking here isn't really real, its as if the worst thing that can happen already has. When I'm aboard the DeLorean I'm no longer a mortal but a character in the extremely unpopular video game titled, Big B Biking 12.0.

10:40 am
Started teaching 44 students the glorious story of A Boy Named Sue, sung by the man who makes Charleton Heston look like Tinkie Winkie: Jonathan Cash. It was a great way to expand vocabulary, learn a bit about American music / culture, hear an amazing story, and tap your size 3 foot while learning.

11:30 am
Realized that the Junior 1s (7th graders) were taking a field trip to Peking University so we were free for the rest of the day!

11:33 am
Ate two glorious chicken wraps for lunch from this little place a stone's throw from school. I love the lady who makes them and love her work. A little ranch dressing would put this place on the map.

1:32 pm
Rode our bikes to Peking University (the Harvard of China) and walked around campus and chilled with some of our kids. Its hard to not feel like a looser while walking around Peking U because anyone of these students, if they would take the ACT would score 39 out of 36 - they're geniuses.

4:58 pm
Played basketball in jeans and sambas with my friend Peter - a graduate student and great guy.

4:49 pm
Realized I was playing basketball in jeans.

6:24 pm
Ate delicious jaudzi (steamed bread with a surprise within) and pumpkin porridge with Peter as we chatted about girls, Jesus, and Michael Jackson.

9:12 pm

Hopped aboard the Cloister's newest weapon: Zoom Zoom. Zoom Zoom is an old moped that has got attitude, sass, and style but no acceleration. Werner's arms were wrapped around me as we sped off to compline. Imagine the scene from Dumb and Dumber when Harry and Lloyd are frozen to each other and holding up traffic as they roll into Aspen. Well, this hog of ours is one find dame. I have visions of an unforgettable Christmas card...

1:17 am
Click on "Publish Post" and sink into bed and as my eyelids flutter I'll fall into this swimming pool of whipped cream we call sleep.
