Where are all the brothers and sisters?
I can't imagine going one day without my two brothers and my sister, but in China there is only one child, only one hope for every family. All this pressure, placed on the shoulders of one "little emperor" (the name given to China's only children because how their parents and grandparents treat them like royalty).
I can't explain this social and cultural atrocity quite like NPR:

On this Thanksgiving I'm thanking my Father for my family - for brothers and a sister, for cousins, for people that shape me and fill me up when I'm running on empty. Without them I'd just be a bland limp noodle of a boyish man.
