These two characters together mean, "a roundabout, indirect way." What I find interesting about it is that both characters have the character 女 (nu: woman) inside. It reminds of a zitty and nervous high school boy (named Micah Ricke) wanting to ask a girl to the dance, but didn't really have the courage to spit out the words necessary.
