We get one story, you and I, and one story alone.
God has established the elements, the setting, the climax and the resolution.
It would be a crime not to venture out, wouldn't it?

Johnson's Ballad

We have a student named Johnson.

He's a great kid.

He must have a crush on Elizabeth Taylor, because when we had the kids write and illustrate their stories last week there were dozens of odes to Justin Beiber, Kobe Bryant heroics, Messi befriending soccer balls, Lady Gaga's wardrobe choices, President Obama saving survivors of a plane crash with a phone call, Kim Jong Il losing a fight with the Statue of LIberty, and talking δΈ²(chuan'r: lamb shishkabob that I always talk about in class).

But Mr. Johnson chose the road less traveled, Last Time of Elizabeth Taylor. And so he courageously and stoicly immortalized Elizabeth's Taylor's passing with the dull end of his pencil in a desk in Beijing, China.

Oh, Johnson, you little man, you...
